Digital organizing FAQ

From scattered files
to one clear system.

Answers about sources, duplicates, privacy, access and backups.

01What is a digital organizing session?+

It is hands-on help for digital photo overwhelm. I consolidate photos and videos from your devices and services, organize them into a simple folder structure, reduce duplicates and create an appropriate backup plan.

02What counts as a photo source?+

A source is one phone, computer, external drive or individual cloud service containing photos.

03What do I need to prepare?+

Honestly, very little. During the assessment I’ll review where your photos are now and give you any specific preparation steps. You do not need to organize everything before we begin.

04What does the finished collection look like?+

Every starting point is different, but the goal is one central photo library with photos and videos in a clear folder structure, typically organized by year and month, and properly backed up. Useful organization you already have can be preserved and merged into the finished library.

05Will you delete my photos?+

Files are handled carefully. Duplicate removal and final decisions follow the agreed project plan, with privacy and preservation prioritized.

06Can you fix incorrect dates?+

Dates can often be corrected when reliable context is available, making photos easier to place in the right year and month.

07Is screen sharing safe?+

Access is private and must be authorized by you. When the screen-sharing session closes, I no longer have access. You can watch the work or end access whenever you need to.

08Do I need to stay at my computer?+

You will need to be available for the initial and wrap-up sessions, but much of the organizing can happen independently while I keep in touch with you.

09What if my photo collection is unusually large?+

Please don’t be embarrassed. Collections range from a few thousand photos to hundreds of thousands. Sorting out a complicated photo collection is the job. It’s not something you need to fix before asking for help.

10Will I be able to maintain it afterward?+

That is the goal. At the end, I’ll explain the simple steps for keeping your library organized. Maintenance sessions are also available if you would rather have ongoing help.

11What kind of backup will I have?+

The goal is a protected collection with more than one copy, typically including an organized local library and an appropriate cloud backup.

12How long does digital organizing take?+

It depends on the number of sources, library size, computer speed and internet connection. A full project often takes several weeks, with expectations set after assessment.
